The reason the Potowatomi and Kikapoo Indians came is becuse they were forced there by other settlers. Indiana became a state when the Indiana government sent a constitution to the U.S. government for approval. James Maddison signed the constitution for Indiana to become a state. In 1679 La Salle became the the first European in Indiana. In 1732 the French made a permanent settlement at Vincenues. In 1763 France gave Indiana to Great Britan after the French and Indian War. In 1784 the first Amarican settlement at Clarksville is built. In 1787 Indiana became part of the Northwest Teritory.

I like this book.
Here's a passage from it that I think really sums up the way the story is told. The narrator is Death, but he's really just a regular guy doing his job, so no worries. He's an observer who got interested in the protagonist, Liesel Meminger's life. In this part of the book, Liesel is at a book burning for Hitler's birthday, as all of the Hitler Youth had to attend. The fire was just lit.
Many jocular comments followed, as did another onslaught of "heil Hitlering." You know, it actually makes me wonder if anyone ever lost an eye or injured a hand or wrist with all of that. You'd only need to be facing the wrong way at the wrong time or stand marginally too close to another person. Perhaps people did get injured. Personally, I can only tell you that no one died from it, or at least, not physically. There was, of course, the matter of forty million people I picked up by the time the whole thing was finished, but that's getting all metaphoric. Allow me to return us to the fire.

That title is so spiffing, I wish I was enough of a quote person to have a weekly quote or sommat. Alas, this is not the case. sigh.
Prom is in two days. I'm going with my lovelyspecialboyfriend in a lovelyspeciallimo full of lovelyspecialnerdfolk. The dance itself, I'm afraid, is not going to be that entertaining. What does one do for fun at the Nixon Library? Hopefully these lovelyspecialpeople will make up for it. Lauren is wearing a fancy top hat with her dress, and I am jealous of her. As for me, I'm going to have my verra first professional up-do. Let's hope that works out, since I generally don't like it when my hair is up/back. There's talk of going to see Up after the dance. I wasn't planning on seeing it, but if it'll make prom last longer, so be it. Besides, in all of our five months together, Austin and I have never once seen a movie together. Or really gone out. Prom will sort of be our second date. Strange we are.

I might as well acknowledge it. I failed at BEDA. It was too much like homework, so I forgot to do it. I don't have to do fun things if I don't want to!(/forget)
Just some thoughts.
Things and stuff that really doesn't fit in Twitter of my Facebook status because people don't care all that much (basically what this blog was intended for).
My enter key has decided to become a 7th grader, and will now only respond if I strike it forcefully and with confidence. Same with the Apple keys.
I decided to try a Monster yesterday. I forgot how concentrated amounts of caffeine (or whatever else might be in those things) makes me sick. However, I feel like I should start getting my body used to it, because it's all I'll have in collegeland due to my distaste for coffee.
Speaking of the magical land that is college, realized that the only thing I'm afraid of is all the writing. If it weren't for that, I'd be so excited. It's required that everyone take a writing intensive course and a speaking intensive course to graduate. Those classes are going to break me -_-
I just found something sticky and purple on my sock. Eew. *removes sock*
According to Lord Alex Day, Neil Gaiman might be writing an episode of Season 5 of Doctor Who! ^_^ (http://nerimon.diaryland.com/2550.html)
As soon as we get our tickets, Boyfriend and I will be going to prom. It's at the Nixon Library, so I don't know what we're going to do while we're there. But before we even get to think about that, we have to find a ride! The only limo I've heard of is nearly full and contains the Ex (as well as all my friends). Boyfriend has hinted a couple times that he doesn't reeeaally want to go to prom. He mentioned that he'd rather do something free with the other friends who aren't going. The tickets are also a bit of a financial stretch for both of us. Buuuut I want to wear my dress and I want to do the pictures and all that nonsense. It is Senior Prom. Maybe I should be a good Girlfriend and not make him go.... nah, we're going :) Mayhaps there's a decent after party somewhere. Who knows, I'm not in the department that gets those memos.

BEDA #7
I am an Artificial Noise Maker.
Did pretty well in archery yesterday! :) Only two 0's and a high score of 26. While texting Austin last night, I finally got him to agree to come to archery with me on the 16th, for bluegrass night. It'll be the first time we see each other outside of school stuff, unless something happens between now and then of course. He insists he sucks at archery, which is ironic, but I think he'll really like the bluegrass. Especially considering he plays half the instruments and wants to learn the banjo! He's kind of amazing like that.
Easter's on Sunday which means two things.. #1: shopping for new clothes, and #2: horrible, ugly, awkward family occasion. I realized that I haven't seriously shopped for new clothes in a very long time. I was never any good at it either. However, since then I've watched a whole lot of What Not To Wear, so I think I'll be prepared. (Not that I'll be shopping at high-end New York shops... more like at The Rack..) As for #2... I've always hated family occasions. No one in my extended family like me very much because I was a very awkward and anti-social child (ha, not much has changed), and they don't know what to do with me now-a-days. Hannah and I feel the same way, so at least we get to go off on our own and do whatever. (When we're not arguing, that is.) Hannah went to do the shopping thing today and got a really cute jacket. For the first time ever Hannah bought clothes I want to steal. In six months she'll have never worn it, and then it's mine! *yoink* She also got an iPod Touch the other day >~<
Unfortunately Hannah being out all day, I was left home alone all day to do nothing in particular. I would have gone somewhere to do something with someone, but no one's around! Argh!

BEDA #6, With Some #5 Thrown In.
I can't fathom why THEUSEDCHANNEL isn't a partner on YouTube yet, what with them being famous and all. Unless Partnership is strictly something you have to apply for. I always thought they offered it to some people. I could, of course, be entirely wrong. Official judgement shall be reserved until I hear a studio recording, however.
Yesterday I forgot to BEDA blog. Sadpandas, no excuses, I just like forgetting things. Yesterday I--("Mom, what did we do yesterday?") Yesterday I went with everyone to get all the cars washed. Nothing special, except I got a road map of Orange County at the car wash. Maybe I won't get lost now. Most likely I still will. It's surprisingly simple to read, which is good-32% larger! Then we ate at The Claim Jumper where the fries are amazing and I SWEAR I saw Lizz's (SquirrelyTONKS) long lost secret sister. Lizz, if you read this and have a sister in California... I totally saw her. Upon returning home I tried to get in touch with Marc to see if he wanted to go swimming. It's getting soo nice out here and i've just been getting that swimming feeling. but alas, he had to meet with someone about something. He's back at college now :( I accidentally took a nap at about 4:30, 5-ish. As a result I was up very late again.
TODAY, I have done nothing. I woke up and have been on the computer since. Maybe I'll update this tonight if anything happens.

BEDA #4
You know, it's really helpful that the day of the month corresponds with the BEDA day number. Otherwise, I'd get lost and confused. :P Sarcastically, do you know what else is helpful? Starting these blogs with no plans or ideas >_<
Jane Austen Ruined My Life. is the title of the book I am currently reading. My reading of this book wasn't at all premeditated, but a random snag because I wanted to buy a book that day. It would be nice if I could say "lolz it's so fitting that I'm reading it because we read P&P in school and it ruined MY life! :D" but alas, I didn't hate it. Granted, I didn't read it all %100, but what I did read (most of t) was really good. I like her writing style. But that brings me to the subject of why Jane Austen Ruined My Life is not a book I'm currently enjoying very much. The writing style of it's author, Beth Patillo, is very simplistic. (Not to mention the fact that it has too white, too thick, strangely glossy pages, and large type. But we're not talking about aesthetics here.) At this point in the book, it's almost worse than Twilight. I hope it gets better, really, because it's an interesting story about Jane Austen's lost letters. The story at the moment reminds me of Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes in that it's involving an American girl (young woman) who travels to England and is staying with a guy, and who goes somewhere looking for letters. But then, I didn't like 13LBE very much... Hm, we'll see!

Today was slightly more interesting. It was a minimum day at school because yesterday was open house. Mom and I went for the language classes' food. I, along with many others, have always wondered why the minimum day is the day AFTER open house rather than the day of. Doesn't it make more sense to give the teachers that extra time to set up and prepare? There are some things about the school system that weren't meant to be understood.
Spring Break is next week. I'd be more excited if I actually had PLANS or something. I had my hopes all up for a 2nd Music Club Council retreat, but that fell through along with the things we needed to go on the retreat to plan. However, mummy dearest has told me that in a few weekends (when it's not being rented out) I can propose that Council come stay at our condo in the desert. I think that would be so fun, and that place needs some good memories.

O'Rieley was talking to (I hesitate to say interviewing) a woman who was explaining Twitter to him. He was being his usual mean, condescending, smart-ass self about it ("140 characters, that's like what, a sentence? Do you speak the words or do you have to type them?") when the woman says,

And he cuts her off to express his surprise that he himself has a Twitter.
"I didn't know that! We'll be right back."

She sits inside
Her little seat,
Booties on
Her little feet.
Faster, Faster,
Road flies by
As she looks toward
The summer sky.
New eyes wide
With warm delight
Take in the colors,
Shapes, and lights.
Gazing sweetly,
She can’t read
The ads that they
Would have her see.
Symbols, words—unique and strange;
She only sees the mountain range.

I know it sucks. It's hard to write in the style of a poet who you are not.
On a more personal, diary-like note, I'm super worried my boyfriend is going to get drunk tomorrow, and possibly a little bit inebriated at school... I don't know how to handle this. Also, that sentence was comma-tastic. Grammar FTW.

I Dream of John
Last night, I dreamt I spilled Strawberry hill on the white carpet in the bonus room. I was panicking because I knew it would stain, but Hannah didn't bother to help. I managed to clean it myself, but it did indeed stain (in the shape of a face giving a thumbs up no less 0.o). Woot.
I was getting all mad at Hannah as we left to bonus room, yelling and whatnot, but then John Green, in a rather fatherly way, glared at us and told us to be quiet. I'd forgotten that he usually works at that time of night. So real life me discovered that John Green lived with me, something dream me was perfectly accustomed to. He was doing a BlogTV show-I realized this because he said, "I think I'll read you some poetry" to his computer-so I went upstairs so as to not disturb him, and to put the dirty towel away.* While upstairs real life me reminded dream me that OMG JOHN GREEN IS BLOGTV-ING IN YOUR KITCHEN!! Dream me responded, "Chill, I know!". To which real me insisted, "We have to go down and hang out".
I went down to talk to John under the pretext of asking him what this thing on my arm was (eew, I know, but it seemed like the kind of thing one asks one's dad). He told me to ask the cognitive surplus of the nerdfighters on BlogTV what it might be. I was on the interwebs, in front of at least 400 people, asking what this bump on my arm was... but John green was my father figure, so this is definitely a good dream.
*I have never seen John Green doing a BlogTV show from outside the computer, but I could see him so clearly that you'd think I was around all the time when he did them. I wish a was a good enough writer to describe it in better detail, because it was kind of awesome.

I'm exited to watch Dollhouse, but I haven't ever seen an episode of either Buffy or Firefly. All I have to go off of is Dr. Horrible. Perhaps Dollhouse will convince me to watch both! I just want to be one of the cool nerds :)

Happi. I Haz Sum.
Ok Lindsey, shake of the lolspeak. *shakes violently*
I have been in SUCH a good mood these past couple of days. For the longest time I would wake up every morning with a knot in my stomach and worry on my mind, but this morning I felt wonderful I figured out why: It's been, among other things, self-induced stress. Basically, I'm the Procrastinatron 9000--no, worse than that, I'm a Procrastinatron 9 billion and 1. There have been one or two things that I've had to do that I just never quite felt like doing, and last weekend I finally got them done. I never would have guessed that simple guilt could have caused me so much pain and anguish! Anyway the relief of that, plus being with Austin, plus Disneyland, plus Austin at Disneyland--you get the picture--has made me quite a happy panda. ^_^
Not that everything is perfect. I still have tons of work to do and there's the issue of..Roxi o.0.... And I see other impending dooms on the horizon, but for today I'll just sit and enjoy my fleeting hot tub of happi.

Boredom Blog #Blah

I have so much music I don't like, and yet I can't seem to part with it. I always come up with some nostalgic reason to keep it. I'm currently in the process of burning it all onto CDs, so that should help encourage me to delete things. However, I have to burn about 70 CDs and I'm not halfway done yet.

What do you do when your boyfriend is depressed and won't talk to you about it? Is that normal? It makes me feel pretty helpless and like I'm not useful. I mean I know there's probably nothing I can really do about it, but I'd like him to be able to trust me with stuff.
